Question - Am I paranoid??

My port area had been pretty sore the past two days..... I had my fill on the 4th so I don't think it is because of that...  The pain is getting worse and spreading to the left side of my belly up to the rib cage.... Is this a reason for concern?  Of course I googled port infection and saw some horror stories.....  Dr. on call worthy?  My dr's office closes at noon on Friday.

  1. Gosh, that does sound worrying - I don't have any experience with that, but if the pain is abnormal and unbearable, I'd call the doc on call. Better safe than sorry. Hope you're ok!

  2. I just read a really tough story about a port revision by Ericka that talked about severe pain on the left side. Read what she wrote (if you haven't already) and decide if what you are going through sounds similar. It may help you decide if you can wait or if you need to call the On Call.

  3. I'd call if you're really worried. You did just have your surgery about 6 weeks ago, so better to be safe than sorry!

  4. I was just at the office this morning with the NP. Something interesting - they're now working with Nexcare (urgent care) to provide after hours care for us. It will be at a few of the centers that are open until midnight. There was a NP today that accompanied our NP around to visit patients. Kinda cool in case something goes funky after hours - as long as they get lots of training and know what to do if we get caught in a red zone! :) take care and call if you need to - you've got my number! :)

  6. why does it always seem that issues occur on a Friday or during the weekend when there is no one to answer your questions?! Hope you are feeling better today.

  7. I had a bad pain like that but it was a few days after my fill. It lasted for about 3 or 4 days but then went away. It wouldn't hurt to check with the doctor.

  8. I agree that if it's unbearable and you're worried to call the doc. Never hurts to get checked out.
