The big goal in more ways than one….

As some of you know, I am doing the breast cancer 3day in November.  I have been walking here and there – trying to so approximately 12 miles a week.  On May 27, the big 24 week training starts.  The training program consists of cross training and a whole lotta walking.  During this 24 week period, I should walk 580 miles (not including the 65 miles of the actual 3day)!  I intend to walk all of those miles.

So here are the goals:

(1)    Lose 1-2 lbs per week during the training period putting me at a goal weight of between 198.6 – 174.6 at the end of the 24 weeks.
(2)    Complete all 580 training miles on schedule.
(3)    Complete the 3day!!!!!!

***I need to raise $2,300 to participate in the Komen 3day.  If you can donate even a $1.00 it would really help!  Below is my site so you can check out why I decided to participate in this awesome event.

Its Wednesday - I suck with catchy titles :)

I got this from Vanessa - who got it from Leigh.  Both of these ladies seriously ROCK IT athletically!  I also love this! Oh so TRUE!!!

SO - I really - I mean REALLY just need this damn incision to heal already.  WTF!! I went to see my surgeon yesterday and he had to reopen part of it (not fun!!!!) because there was an abscessed stitch....but apparently that is not an infection which is good.  So he cleaned it and packed it up so we shall see!  Another 2-3 weeks of healing - ugh!

Otherwise, I am really feeling good.  All the pain from the original port is gone.  I am doing well mood wise and I am really wanting to work out......  With the pain gone, I really want to hit the gym hard. I have been able to refocus how committed I can be.

I have maintained between 219-221 through out this whole process (I was 222 on the day of surgery 3/18/13).  So I am happy there has not been any gain.  I need a fill but I cannot get anymore until he is sure there is no sign of infection and the incision is closed.  SIGH.  In the meantime, I am enjoying things like apples, lettuce, and the occasional sandwich with bread.  I do love that when I am unfilled that I crave the stuff like that!

Hope everyone is having a good week!!

Bandster helper???

Saw this on CNN today - thought it was interesting.  An electric fork that vibrates when you are eating too fast!

New port - new start??

So I officially had a weekend of not doing anything - literally - the Dr. said to lay around with an ice pack on my port - so I did..... reluctantly! and shockingly, I do feel tons better today.

I had my second follow-up/first fill post port revision. Still having some pain but all in all feeling tons better.  The surgery has apparently done what it is supposed to since I am not having the day to day pain I was having before.  The fill today hurt like a BIT** no joke.  Espcially since the nurse totally marked the wrong spot on the ultra sound (not entirely her fault since the Dr. says I have quite a bit of fluid going on so it was hard to see the port.  Anyway, back up to 4.cc and hoping that I can have a new start with this band!

BYOC!!!

 It's time for BYOC!!!

We answer 5 little questions - some serious, some silly - to give our blogging brains a break and to get to know each other better.  Copy and paste to your own blog and ENJOY!!

1. Tell us something that you want to do or wish you could do but you continue not to do it for fear of judgment or failure or of what others may say or do?

Lots of things and I need to work on that!  Move would definitely be a big one for me.  I was born and raised in the Phx, AZ area and would love to leave because I don’t like it but I am too scared to leave my comfort zone.

2. What’s your favorite pizza topping and brand?
Mushrooms for sure!  Not partial to a brand really… Maybe Barros… I think that might be an AZ chain.

3. If you could go back in time but only as far as five years – would you go or not go and why?
I wouldn’t.  I think there is good and bad in every time period so I will just continue to push forward.

4. Who is your favorite Disney princess and why?
Hmmmm…. Tough one!  If you have a little girl you have probably seen the movies a million times each.  Cinderella I think!  It is my favorite story.

5. Repeat Question – summarize your week!
This week has sucked. I am still trying to recover from what should have been a minor surgery.  I hate being under the weather and there is mandatory OT at work right now so I may not be giving myself time to recoup.

Weigh-In Wed!

Last Week: 219.4
This Week: 219.4
Difference: 0

So I am having my post moved and replaced next Thursday!!  Cannot come soon enough! Bummer is they did a complete unfill yesterday for the surgery and I was finally at a great fill level!!  Being unfilled gives me so much anxiety - I hate it! Oh well moving on!

My diet lately....

So I think (knock on wood) that I may finally have reached the green zone! Occasionally I feel a little tight.

I have been eating:

Breakfast:
Coffee w/cream

Snack (prob at 10 or 11 a.m.):
Think thin bar
*these are amazing!!  20g protein and they go down really well (at least my band likes them)!

Lunch:
8 grape tomatoes, a few cucumber slices and 2tbsp of hummus and a sting cheese.

Dinner:
Grilled meat (chicken/fish), veggie or salad (lettuce is questionable).....

I have been trying to walk at least 3 miles 4x a week to start working up to training for the Breast Cancer 3day. When you get to 24 weeks out from the race there is a pretty intensive training plan!!

Weigh-in: 219.4 - hoping to keep this going in the right direction!
