Musings......

First - no walk this a.m. the poor kid was absolutely exhausted (she had ballet from 4:30-5:30 and soccer from 6:00-7:30 last night).  She woke me up at 5:00 a.m. to go walking and then she crawled in my bed and fell back to sleep.  So we will go tonight - I can't go alone in the morning because my husband leaves for work at 4:45 and I can't leave Mya alone in the house.  She had an amazing soccer game last Saturday so now she is really interested in working on her running stamina.  I am so happy she loves to exercise!!!

I have been very hesitant to talk about my lap band recently, I feel like people are more judgmental than not.  There is this one mom who's daughter is on Mya's soccer team that is overweight but is obviously making huge efforts to lose weight.  We ended up going to dinner with them on Saturday night and she was talking about her gym schedule and this walking group she does and so on.  She also watches her diet very closely. When we were eating dinner, obviously, I can't eat very much so I gave a portion to my hubby and my sides to Mya.  She asked me why I was eating so little.  My hesitation was that I didn't want to face resentment from her because I had lap band surgery because I know she works so hard at weight loss and I would not want her to think that I took the easy way out or be upset that for whatever reason she couldn't have surgery.  I am EXTREMELY lucky that my insurance covered the surgery at 100%, if it hadn't I would not be where I am because was no way I could have afforded it. So I felt it out and ended up telling her that I had lap band surgery and that I don't tell many people because I don't like to be judged.  She was extremely accepting and said that until someone walks a mile in your shoes, they have no right to judge what you do. Turns out that she did have a consult for lap band surgery but it just didn't fit into their budget at the time.  Long story short, I think that I have found someone to help with accountability and perhaps a workout partner!!

Have a great day ladies <3

  1. I think it's great that she was so supportive. I know a ton of people who aren't in my life, and it's no fun. :(

  3. A workout partner - a friend - is sooo important on this journey! Good for you for placing your trust into someone and finding a friend to do this with you!!

  4. I think it's wonderful that you opened up and it turned out well. Sometimes people are judgmental and I'm very choosy about who I tell about the band. Sounds like it worked out for you!

  5. That's awesome you found a weight loss buddy! I haven't had anyone be judgmental towards me (that I know of), but I know other people have experienced that.
