This whole re-learning how to eat thing is hard. There is such a fine line between I'm good and oh boy I ate too much! I am having a hard time with this. I think my main issue is eating too fast..... The past two days I have had bad chest pain after eating.... I am hoping it is something I can change by slowing down, chewing more, etc. I wish I had more patience! It is so hard to slow down when I just want to finish and move on to what I need to do next!
Also, I wish my port incision would heal it is still open! Starting to wonder if a Dr visit is in order???
Day by day. This is definitely a learn experience!
Yeah I think slowing down and chewing good will definitely help with that! It feels like it takes forever to eat! It's irritating, but it's necessary to not get stuck or feel those chest pains. You're doing great! Hopefully that incision will heal up soon!
ReplyDeleteYep...slow down and chew chew chew. I know it's a pain to relearn this habit, but it truly is the most important change you're going to make.
ReplyDeleteBe a train! chew chew chew chew. .. yeah I'm odd, I know. But it'll help!
ReplyDeleteI'm headed back to see Dr. N today because my port incision isn't healing well...the middle is, but the two sides are still open :(
ReplyDeleteStill open? Hmm, it's been almost a month... I would definitely call and ask them about it.
ReplyDeleteIt IS hard knowing how much to eat, I suggest weighing food out (if applicable) or portioning it. It really will make a difference if you slow down and chew 25 times per bite and wait between bites. Ask yourself after every bite if you're satisfied yet. :)
I was banded 7/7/2011 and I am getting the chest pain too after eating...so I'm going to try to slow down too...chewing hasn't seemed to be too hard for me. I am getting hungier now...and i don't like it one bit! I too would call the doctor about your incision...I'm nearly 3 weeks post op and mine is closed up good...medicinal honey is good for helping wounds close up and heal I have heard...manuka honey it's called. Hang in there!!! you're doing GREAT!!
ReplyDeletedede
Yes, call the doctor. You should not still have an open incision. I was banded 5/27/11 and I am still trying to remember to just slow down. One thing I do is force myself to put down my fork once the food is in my mouth. It has been a few weeks since my last incident so maybe I am finally learning??
ReplyDeleteIf you are worried about your port incision I would definatly go and see your Dr. That is what they are there for.
ReplyDeleteA great thing for me when I was learing how much to eat was to measure out my portions. It won't be long and you'll be able to eyeball the correct portion to feel satisfied.
it is a fine line to figure out. after a while you kinda get where you should be. I still have trouble with it though.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the encouragment. very much appreciated :)
